It was November 9, 1944 when a young man wrote to his bride back here in Oregon. She saved some of these letters and somehow they got placed into a wall of the historic 1912 Schiller Station home.

These letters, when found, had some damage. One was destroyed, but most were saved.
The seller, who did an amazing job bringing this home back to life, wanted the history of the home to go with the new owners and so he decided to keep everything he found, or couldn't use in the remodel, for the new owners.

One of these things that the seller wanted to pass on to the new owners was these letters. Here is the start of the first letter, dated November 9, 1944. For the rest of the letter, along with the follow up letters, the owner says you are going to have to buy the home.

Those letters were a grand find.  I'm sure the new owners will cherish them... let's hope they have a well honed sentimental streak.

Todd, wow!  I wonder if the guy who wrote the letters has children or grandchildren who would love them.  It's amazing what turns up in old houses!

Todd,

Very interesting house, interesting post and a smart seller.  Now was it really his idea or your idea to market it this way??

Todd,

I'm not kidding...If you put this on ebay or Craigs list I'll bet you get a positive response!!! Thanks,   Fran

P.S. I mean on selling the home, not just the letters that go with it!!!

Candy - This wasn't me, this house was just amazing and the posts that are going to come from it as I get to talk to the historical society should be amazing!

Kathy - NO WELL! Neighbors across the street, but with the view from the back and side, it just won't matter. http://www.schillerstation.com/. You won't be able to move here fast enough once you see the detail in this place.

Marlene - Me and this seller hit if off immediately, I felt a passion for this home like I have never felt before. If I could have afforded it today and still be able to put my kids through college, this would have never went on the market!

Jesse or Kathy - If they ever sell the home, I hope they pass on the treasures as well.

Patricia - We have tried to track down the family, but with no luck. We have a call in to the historical society hoping they know something or someone.

Judi - It was mine! But the fact that the seller is willing to give the letters and other items to the new home owner is really cool!

Fran - We are working on getting that done now! Craigslist is up and E-bay hopefully by the end of the week.
