Active Rainers, TN Needs Your Help!Please Help Us Help Them!

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Elite

 Some of you may have seen my post regarding the deadly tornadoes that ripped through Tennessee this week.Deadly Tornadoes in TN, TN Members Check In Please! Relief Fund Info too!  The death toll at last report was 32 but expected to climb higher as emergency personnel make their way into areas previously blocked. In Macon county alone there are over 2oo currently listed as missing.

The devastation has be brutal and hard to watch. I have longed for a way to help or be of service. With such widespread damage there is now way to go to each community hit. Especially since this morning I suffered and acute level 3 sprain of my right ankle getting out of my desk chair, yes, my desk chair. That is for another post entirely...The point of this post is to ask if you feel moved to help those whose homes and lives were so suddenly ripped apart, to please call the and donate. There is a Relief Fund set up by a local news channel, Channel 5 WTVF and Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The number to call is 615-321-4939. They are very nice and can answer many questions you may have. Please give any amount, $5.00 a piece would dramatically change the ability of rescuers and residents to continue the rescue and then re-build efforts that will come after. I have asked all my fellow RE/MAX agents in the 14 offices we have to donate as well. Let's show that it's not about the name of the company or where you live. It's about the capacity for compassion.

This 11 month old child loss his Mother and his home.  I know the human spirit can be broken, let's let these people know we are here to help them stand, they are just a few of the millions of home owners who trust in us every day let's show them why they should continue. Anyone who does not like the way I wrote this or the fact that I am asking, you have my sincere apology. However, I will not let fear of reactions stop me from asking, that's not how I work. Also, if you disagree with me personally, please do not let that keep you from donating. Email me, call me and yell at me, but help these people! Their lives may still depend on it~

You Can Help! Also please let your other groups know about this as I can only get it in 5 of them. Thank you ahead of time, I know the wonderful people here will do what they can, whatever that is...

That number to call for donations once again is
615-321-4939

This evening I received this message from Roland Woodworth a Ft. Campbell area agent;

"Today our Keller Williams Realty Market Center announced that we will host a collection point to Tornado Relief items to go to Lafayette ( Macon County ) Tennessee. Myself and another agent have family there. As you know many lost everything they had.

I spoke to my brother again tonight and the death told there is up to 14. He was telling me that they of course still do not have electricity. He said many people there are in great need of clothing, water along with other essential items. As for our family, My Aunts windows got blown out. Her house should be ok to repair. Just on the next street there is nothing left of the homes there. My Grandfathers house has some damage.... I'm not sure of the extent... He has not been allowed in the area to see at this time.

The other agent in my office who has family there is helping with the macon County Red Cross. We are waiting word as to when they will allow us in the area to deliver these items that we will be collecting."

All our best to your family Roland~

    This was sent out by GNAR ( Greater Nashville Association of Realtors) today;

    SUPPORT FOR TORNADO VICTIMS - HOW YOU CAN HELP

    The recent tornadoes in our region caused untold injuries, the tragic loss of life and significant destruction of personal property. Many of us want to help but may not know how. Rather than GNAR trying to collect funds or organize work teams, our encouragement would be to work through existing agencies, churches and other organizations. You can click here for some suggestions on where to give funds or provide other kinds of support. The thoughts and prayers of all Realtors are with those who experience personal and property loss through these devastating storms.

    Recent tornadoes and storms devastated the lives of many in our community. Realtors can help by giving funds, goods and a helping hand through area churches, support agencies and other organizations.

    "Governor Phil Bredesen announced Wednesday the federal government authorized a major disaster declaration for three more counties in Tennessee. Those counties include Fayette, Haywood and McNairy, along with assistance in additional categories for several previously designated counties.

    The amendment of the disaster declaration brings the total number of counties authorized to receive federal assistance to 16.

    Hardin, Macon, Madison, Shelby and Sumner, were authorized for both individual and public assistance on Feb. 7. With Wednesday's amendment these five counties receive additional public assistance.

    Eight counties were added to the disaster declaration with an amendment of Feb. 12, including individual assistance for Benton, Hickman, Houston, Lewis, Montgomery, Perry, Trousdale and Williamson Counties. Wednesday's amendment also adds public assistance for Benton, Hickman, Houston, Lewis, Perry, Trousdale and Williamson Counties."
