Finding The SolutionWith agents trying to improve themselves over time it does seem

The Best REALTORS Are Great Problem Solvers

Some of this comes from knowing many solutions to a problem up front from EXPERIENCE. Other times you just have to get CREATIVE with many ideas. It is like each solution represents a sheet of paper that you have written on and often you crumple up that idea cause it won't work with TWO parties agreeing and you go back to the drawing board.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE CONFIDENCE THERE IS A SOLUTION even if it is more complex than a single idea and may be multi-step.

In listing, pricing is often stuck too high and perhaps something creative like throwing in some personal property like furniture can help. In buying, repairs often are an issue and a price concession can come back to skip a lot of the minor ones. Terms of a sale are important, negotiating closing dates, should the buyer lease back the property for a few days, should earnest money be increased to show seriousness?

Work with other agents asking what they would do? Often I have found CLIENTS themselves have bold and innovative ideas as well. LISTEN to everyone.

GET GREAT AT PROBLEM SOLVING and more deals will hit the closing table, and not go sideways and end up disappearing.

Very true the good agents are problem solvers.  Be it the Seller or the Buyer we as agents have to get everyone on the same page to make deals happen.

I don't think the public realizes how much of our job is problem solving. We get better at it the more years we're in the business.

Gary,

There aren't many shrinking violets in the real estate community. Real estate agents really do know how to get things done to close the transaction.

Gary, good assessment of what a real estate agent needs to do to work successfully with a client. We have to be able to solve problems and be creative to get the job done.

The real estate market is in a huge state of flux right now, and the true market knowledgeable agents will be the only ones left standing in the end.  Being a great problem solver is one of the top attributes of a high quality real estate agent for sure.

In every situation, there are many options in solving a problem. Sometimes we just need to listen to each side between the seller and the buyer for us to arrive at the best option. Good point Gary.

Excellent problem solving is what separates the real professionals from those who just fill out forms.  The best agents can think of options nobody else considers and make them work.
