Humorous & Interesting Note Comparing Dogs to Women - A Tribute

By

I have some very interesting clients. I found this note on a bulletin board in a cabin that I often think of as a "hermit's cabin.

Cute as a Button Cabin in Shadow Rock Ranch

I believe it offers great insight into why some men would live in isolation.

Dogs vs Women

I don't know much about the man who owned this cabin because he passed away 9 or 10 years ago.  From what he left behind, I conclude that I wish I had known him.

I can tell he was a veteran because of the abundance of ammo boxes at his place.

I can see that he was a very industrious and self-sufficient man who liked to work with his hands. He had quite a nice workshop which was powered by a motor-generator.

He was a good custodian of the environment. He had a raised-bed garden that was watered by water from a catch-basin.

His cabin was powered by a wind-generator and a small solar system.

Kim -- I thought the note was funny but then I realized I had more to say about the man who owned the cabin. I really do wish I had known him.

John - isn't it interesting what you can "know" about a person from what they've left behind. My husband would love that cabin. The only thing it doesn't seem to have is a lake outside the door.

John-That is quite a list. The features in the home show this guy was pretty much off the grid for his power needs. Very small carbon footprint. Reblog.

Sounds and looks like he was a little lonely....but I bet he was a very humerous guy.

You are right, Marte. There is no water here. Sometimes there is well water but these properties are mostly all recreational getaways. On can get a lot of hauled water for what a well costs.

Thanks for the reblog, Wayne.  The low carbon footprint in this case was by necessity.

Lisa -- If you want to write a note or blog about when a woman has a dog instead of a husband, I would like to read it. I think that would be interesting too.

Brenda - I believe he had a great sense of humor. I wonder if he ever had a lady in his life?

That is interesting. I'd like to have both solar power and a wind turbine generator - that way, no matter what the weather, you're covered.

Lynda -- If you really want to be covered, one needs a motor-generator. In this area, the wind usually dies down overnight and of course, the sun goes down and the solar does not produce anything. Motor generators here are run on propane which is needed to provide heat.

I forgot to mention that this cabin also has propane powered refrigerators.

Yes, Adrian, the bulletin board to which the note was attached is made from corks from wine bottles. There are other items in the cabin that say MOUNTAINS about this man who lived there. We surely have lost a good citizen when he passed. He may have been a great benefit to mankind but his desire to live in isolation may have diminished that.
