As you may or may not know, today is the first day of Year of the Rat on the Chinese calendar. That's why Google's home page shows the funny little rats today. I wish everyone prosperity and good health!!
Today is also the first time I write my own blog. I don't have a new year resolution. I am the kind of person who plans in the head; make a commitment and just do it. There is an old Chinese saying that one can make friends by writing. Having read so many success stories on Active Rain, I believe this old saying still applies. Please feel free to comment.
Unconsciously people still think that if it's good enough to be published (in print), the content must also be trustworthy. Certainly in this digital age, anyone can publish their own thoughts and stories. Not all of them are worth reading. My goal is to make my blog worth reading. But, honestly, my real motivation is to improve myself. How so? Writing slows down my thoughts. By putting my thoughts into words, I can hear myself more clearly. At times, my logics may be too sloppy; my thoughts may be too opinionated; my facts may be off. By putting my thoughts in writing, and publishing them out in the public, I will have to be on my toes before opening my mouth.
So, what am I going to write about in this blog? Going back to the old Chinese saying, I want to write something that interest you and myself. I want to make some friends who would laugh with me (or laugh at me, no problem).
Okay, that's it for today. I already love the idea of launching my own blog....
