There is something very romantic about walking down Ocean Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea at night, especially if there is a full moon like tonight. Tiny lights draped around trees down the center of the avenue illuminates the street rather than normal street lights.
As I wrote in my previous post, I am here to prepare for the Carmel Art Festival which is happening May 16 to 19, 2013 and a lot of advance work has to be done. It's fun because I get to visit with all my art gallery friends who will be arranging painting exhibitions and receptions to coincide with our event.
Art collectors come from all over the country come to Carmel-by-the-Sea to view and purchase the paintings that the 60 juried artists produce over a two-day period just prior to the event. The plein air paintings, which will still be wet when we hang them, are painted all over the Monterey Peninsula, many of them in the dramatic Big Sur area, along beautiful 17-Mile Drive in Pebble Beach, in the hills of Carmel Valley, or down on Carmel Beach.
Anyway, today after a long day of meetings, it was nice just to stroll down Ocean Avenue and look at the moon peeking out from a little bit of fog. In the next few days, I'll tell you about some other things that are happening here and in Carmel Valley.
WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH REAL ESTATE?
Well, actually quite a bit. These art investors have beautiful homes, often more than one, and often that second or third one is here on the Monterey Peninsula. And that's where they keep their art collections! The Carmel Art Festival is a great place to meet these potential clients.
