Huck Finn Fishing Day - Reminiscing The Days Of Our Youth - Teach A Youth To Fish
Huck Finn Returns To Uxbridge ..... Are You Ready For It
An old African proverb is "it takes a village to raise a child". Well here in Uxbridge we see that in action as one of the biggest kids events in Uxbridge is a joint venture of: Canadian Tire Uxbridge, Durham Regional Police, zehrs, The Times Journal, The Uxbridge Legion, Optimist Uxbridge, The town Of Uxbridge, The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, The Pickering Rod and Gun Club, Kids, Cops and Canadian Tire Fishing Days, and the Provine of Ontario.
Remember what it was like to be a child when we were growing up ..... life was much simpler back then we did not have all the electronic gadgetry that today's youth have. We played out doors more and found our fun in the things that nature provided for us. Simple things like climbing a tree to catching tadpoles in the local pond kept us busy for hours.
Today's electronically oriented youth are missing out on many of the pleasures enjoyed by youth just one generation ago but thanks to Canadian Tire fishing is not one of them as this Uxbridge Youth Fishing Event returns to Elgin Pond on Saturday April 27th, 2013
Once again Uxbridge is blessed with the generosity of local businesses and organizations as The Huck Finn Fishing Day Returns to Elgin Pond, complete with the Huck Finn Dress Up Contest and Parade,
I suspect Huck Finn would have had no difficulty doing all of the things on the National Trusts list of 50 things a child should do before the age of 12.
Huck Finn’s Youth Fishing Day is Saturday April 27th at Elgin Pond in Uxbridge. The day begins in Elgin Park at 9:30am with a parade so so make sure your costume and bike or wagon are ready.
Prizes will be awarded for best dressed, best decorated etc…
