Historic Preservation Law Training in Kentlands
The City of Gaithersburg has announced a three hour free training session on historic preservation law on Thursday, May 9, 2013. This a wonderful opportunity for residents to gain more knowledge of the issues involved in historic preservation. The location of the session is the historic Kentlands Mansion in the Kentlands community in Gaithersburg.
Real estate professionals that work with historic properties will certainly want to attend this session.

The City of Gaithersburg Historic District Commission will hold a training session on Historic Preservation Law on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Kentlands Mansion from 7 to 10 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested. The course will provide an introduction to legal, advocacy, and public policy issues in the field of historic preservation. Relevant legal subjects, including historic preservation ordinances, state and federal statutes, and important constitutional issues, will be touched on. The course will be taught by Mr. Frederick Stachura, J.D., HPC Liaison to the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and adjunct faculty/professor at the University of Maryland School of Architecture - Planning and Preservation and the Boston Architectural College.
The Historic District Commission is charged with safeguarding the heritage of the City of Gaithersburg by preserving sites, structures or districts which reflect elements of cultural, social, economic, political, archaeological, or architectural history. The Commission is also charged with strengthening the local economy and promoting the preservation and appreciation of these sites, structures and districts for the education and welfare of Gaithersburg residents.
