Clown– What is Behind the Makeup Face?

Clown– What is Behind the Makeup Face?

What is behind the makeup face of a clown? When I was young, my grand-mother took me and my cousin to the circus and I remember the clown made his/her audiences laugh with their funny actions.

They were funny entertainers as well as performance artists. No one knows what is behind the makeup face.

Clowns are human too; the true feelings are covered up. However audiences only see the painted happy or sad faces. The crowd will laugh by their actions even just a wink from their eyes.Their real emotions will not be discovered. When alone, out of the costume, the show and the stage, they are like you and me, they cry.

Kwee, clowns are a mystery...they make us laugh and they make us cry...I think they actually scare a few of us.

I think it takes a unique personality to be a clown. They certainly do create an air of fun and sometimes mystery. I have to agree with Nick, I think often kids can be frightened by them. Personally I like clowns!

Good Eveni g Kwee,

Clowns, like comedians entertain us at great expense to themselves.  Indeed they have emotions like all of us, but lot of the raw emotions can be hidden behind the mask

It's interesting that there is a large number of people that are terrified by clowns.  Something I could never understand.

I have to agree with Gabe, I cannot understand why people would be afraid of clowns.

Clowns are just people, too. They dress up and put on makeup to put on a show for all of us. We do have some clients that do the same thing. LOL.

When I was a kid I had a mortal disdain for clowns.  I absolutely didn't want any part of them!  At the circus I was always less afraid of the Lions, Tigers and Bears. . .Go figure:-)

Kwee, Very true!  I think that many of us put on a face that we allow the public to see.  We then let our guard down and show emotions with our loved ones.  Clowns do a good thing!

Hi Kwee, yes clowns are human they laugh and cry like the rest of us.  I knew a man that was scared of clowns, and I think he had a bad experience at one time!

Kwee - I've always loved clowns ever since I was a kid and I didn't realize how many people are afraid of them until I became an adult. To this day I have adult friends who are scared to death of clowns.

Kwee, the days of watching clowns in our early years was a blessing.    No pre-determined thoughts, just fun.   Those were the days.

I very often wonder why we laugh so hard at clowns, Kwee. Maybe because it releases some of the emotion within ourselves.

Clowns are much like real estate professionals.  Always smiling in public and trying to keep the attention of the audience.

Kwee, this was an insightful and thought provoking post.  I guess we never really know what is going on in someone else's head.  We may think we do, but be totally wrong.  So many people wear masks - the problems is we don't know who is and who isn't.  The person behind the mask could be trying to trick us, or they could be crying out for a secret help that no one knows about because of the mask.  Very deep.
