E-Pro REALTOR is a designation earned by receiving 20-30 hours of education.
This designation is recognized by the National Association of REALTORS. REALTORS
with the e-Pro designation have an understanding of use of technology as it
applies in the Real Estate Industry. E-Pros may not be able to repair a computer,
build a website or troubleshoot the space shuttle, but you want to make sure
your agent knows how to check the voicemail on their cell phone.
It's 2007, with the internet, pda's cell phones, laptops, supra
lock boxes, you want to make sure you're agent is using these technologies
to help facilitate your needs. If you are selling a house, an e-Pro REALTOR
will know how to make nice brochures, post your listing on various real estate
related websites, email documents for fast communication.
Here is my office set up. I have a Blackberry 8800 with an unlimited data plan
and a built in GPS. This enables me to surf the web for information while out
in the field. I can receive and return emails while I am away from the office.
If you fill out a form on my webpage it goes straight into my contact database
which is sync'd with my PDA and I also get a text message that lets me
know you need my help. I try my best to contact all inquires within 15 minutes.
My GPS system aids me in finding property and helps me avoid traffic without
having to break out the old map.
I use a laptop so that I can take my data with me where ever I go. It's
equipped with a built in wireless card. However, sometimes there is no wireless
internet access, oh yea, that's when I hook up my Blackberry to my computer
and I'm back in business. I have my own Color laser printer, fax, and
copier so that I don't have to run to Kinko's.
Make sure your agent is using a Supra Key, and Supra Lockbox. A supra lockbox,
is for your protection. It records every time someone accesses the lockbox which
contains the key to your home. It can also be programmed when to allow access
to the key during certain hours. Supra Key's are registered to one agent
only. They are solely responsible for the use of it. When ever a lockbox is
accessed the owner of that lockbox gets and email letting them knows someone
has accessed the lockbox. Combination lockboxes are good for vacant properties
when you need a contractor to have access to your property.
Agents do not have to have the e-Pro designation to know how to use these technologies,
but an agent who dedicates time in becoming an e-Pro agent is serious about
their career.
Speak for yourself! I can trouble-shoot the space shuttle! Ok, I can't. But I enjoyed your post.
