6 Ways to boost curb appeal

Spring is the most popular time to buy a house.

April is over and the month of May is peeking a bright, beautiful face over the horizon, casting golden beams of sunshine down the block. Take this perfect moment to get a good look at the properties you’re listing and how you could improve them visually.

It’s no secret that humans yearn to look at beautiful things. Are you using your natural resources, like the front yard, to appeal to potential buyers?

If you’ve ever been to a sushi restaurant, you understand how important presentation can be, both to the chef and the consumer. Sushi may be delicious…but if it’s not presented in a beautiful way—the sushi cannot be enjoyed to its fullest extent. Looks matter (sorry, kindergarten teachers—but it’s true).

Here are a few helpful tips for cleaning up a yard, so it’s an irresistible paradise for prospective buyers:

A little yard work is all it takes.
  •  Take out the trash—clean up any loose limbs, leaves, and grass clippings from flower beds, gardens and lawns. Also trim back and prune any plants that were dormant during the winter, so they can grow fresh again.
  • Weed then feed—be sure no weeds are poking out of sidewalks, driveways or flower beds. Then fertilize gardens, flower beds, the grass and perhaps even include a turf builder for a strong healthy lawn.
  • Check irrigation systems—if your listing has an irrigation system, be sure everything is running at tip-top shape.
  • Mulch—my mama says mulch makes everything better. Flowers look clean and vibrant with a fresh dusting of mulch, not to mention it smells delightfully earthy.
  • Have fun with flower beds—straight lines can be so boring; try adding curves to flowerbeds for more curb appeal.
  • Plant flowers that will survive in your areaclick here to see how to make sure your flowers and plants survive. Hint: despite their name, pansies are a hardy flower that will most likely last through spring time.
A house with a beautiful lawm is ready to sell.

You know how important appearances are when it comes to selling houses. Be sure you’re doing everything you can to make open houses and viewings as charming as possible. Don’t forget to use what Mother Nature gave ya!

Don’t forget to leave take-aways sitting out for visitors at your open house. Notepads and Bag Tags™ are always client favorites.
