Bike Ride Led by Mayor
This is an annual event to demonstrate our support and commitment for cycling in the Bicycle Friendly Community of Venice Florida. Mayor John Holic and Mr. Mike Gippert, the president of Friends of Legacy Trail will lead all participating cyclists along the Venice Island route. This is a short ride; it is only about seven miles in distance.
Bike Route
The bike ride will take all cyclists south on the Venetian Waterway Park to Casperson Park at Casperson beach. On the way cyclists will enjoy scenic views of trees and bushes, wildlife like birds, gopher turtles and boats on the Intracoastal Waterway.
During your break at Casperson Park, free bottled water will be offered at the big picnic shelter. All cyclists have the opportunity to ask Mayor John Holic and Venice Police Department police officers, questions and concerns they may have about the city of Venice on planning, new, future or existing projects, and the safety and security of our vibrant community.
After the break, cyclists will continue their ride on to north of Harbor Drive, turn on Airport Road, and back to Venetian Waterway Park Trail and cycle north bound to the starting point.
Ride safe and ride smart
Remember to put on suntan lotion and bring your helmet. It is a state law to wear helmet, especially if cyclists are 16 years or younger. Adult cyclists are encouraged to wear a helmet to protect your head from injury if an accident happens.
