What are your options?  You can be offended, or you can ask yourself why not me, or you can just move on.

How do you handle this?  I've been in all three categories.  That's OK to start out in one of the above, but where do we want to finish?  If I ask myself why not me, that's self examination.  We might need some help here from a trusted professional or mate.  If I need to improve somewhere, I want to know.  I know I can't be all things to all people, so I try to improve where I can and let go where I can't.  I know my strong points and I try to convey them to my clients.  If that's not what they want,  I just say to myself.............NEXT.

Care to share?   Please do.

It depends on how close of a friend. My dear friends have always worked with me. Others, I just assume they had a dear friend to work with.  Life is too short to give it much thought. I never take it personal. And I never ever show sour grapes.  It will affect future business relationships with other friends.

Sometimes people do not like to share their personal information and also may be afraid of damaging a the friendship.  I would just move on and not take it personal.  It might be for the best in many cases.

NEXT is right!  But..... there is a part of me that does take some offense.  It is like you not hiring them to fix your windows when they are window contractors.  Wouldn't they be upset if they came over and saw somebody else fixing your windows?

I kind of feel like Lynn, I think some people might find it awkward to share personal information with a close friend, be-it, they're embarrassed or self-conscience about certain things. It felt a little awkward for me to share credit information with a close friend, who is a loan officer, when I refinanced my home. But at the end of the day business is business and he was very professional in handling my situation. I would just hope all my close friends & family would have the confidence to trust in me as I trusted my friend. If not, then next!

My "friend" did list with me and it was a frickin' nightmare.

Wouldn't take advice.  Wouldn't be realistic about price and when the clunker didn't sell, insisted it was because we don't advertise heavily in the NEWSPAPER!  It expired.  They listed with someone else who didn't sell it either.  Expired a second time at a lower price.  Taken off the market.

It may be that there is personal information they don't want you to know, or they may be afraid that the business deal will negatively affect your relationship.  I know this saying is a little blunt, but I think it's apropos in this situation - "Some will, some won't, so what? Next!"  Good luck!
