The Snowbirds Have Gone Home and I'm Gonna Miss 'Em

By
Real Estate Agent with Oikos Realty, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach Florida

Every year, Floirda has a flock of "snowbirds" that visit for up to 7 months and then go back up north to the warmer weather. They're here to have a good time, enjoy the beach and they pick up the local economy. Below is a collage of my of my crazy Canadian, Dutchman friend Frank's 63'd bithday party at the "Hitching Post Trailer Ranch" in Cape Canaveral. He's the big guy in the blue checkered shirt. Frank can fix anything! He also plays the spoons and likes his music loud. Everyone just seems to gravitate to Frank and Yvonne's place to enjoy a drink, great music and lively conversation. Despite all the extra traffic and lineups at Walmart, I'm gonna miss 'em all until next season.

Loved your post!   I think a lot of Canadians enjoy their "winter home" in Florida, Arizona, and in California's desert towns.   Nice to have two lives...here and there.

Gary - I know he would like that but he would lose his Canadian health care.

Li - I was a snowbird for 20 years until I finally moved here 4 years ago. No snow to shovel but the August heat and humidity can be brutal!

John - I think you play the part of the perfect Cocoa Beach Ambassador to the snowbirds.  Sad to see them go, but there will always be next winter:-)

Thanks Myrl - You are right...they will always come back. In the meantime, I'll have just have to put up with hot sunny days on the beach, bikinis and cold beer playing horseshoes and cornhole" :-)

John, looks like a lot of fun.  We have a lot of those Canadien snowbirds visit our area every year as well.  The RV park that they stay in is a total party central.
