Loosing a friend!

We had to put down our old friend last week after 4 days of colic!  He was my wife's first purchase after we married 20 years ago!  A beautiful sorrel quarterhorse, Ryder, had the heart of a saint and the spirit like no other.  He took my wife from trail riding, to 3 day eventing to dressage as she (wife) transitioned in her horsey desires.  He had been retired for several years with a bad knee that was getting worse and worse and it was only a matter of time anyway!  We had injected, and treated that knee for years trying to keep our friend comfy!  A cold front came in and he clogged up and we took him to the vet who oiled him again and continued him on pain killers and fluids hoping for some passage but it was not meant to be!  He will be greatly missed just as a great friend and awesome kisser! (he loved to lick!)  He was the perfect "pony" horse to lead our new yearlings around and was king of the pasture!  He was the one you let loose in the front yard to "mow" and the one you put the visitor's kids on when they needed a ride.

Glen, I'm sorry to hear about your loss.  At least you had many great years to remember.  Take care.

Glen,

Your comment on geocaching on my blog was well recieved, now I read your blog and am sorrowful in lieu of your losing a friend.

Please keep in touch and maybe see you in Benson, Az where there is lots of horse property, and horses.

Glen,  I'm sorry for your loss, it's funny how animals become like people and sometimes are a better friend, they don't talk back all though my boxer gets her feelings hurt and will pout.  They're more faithful than we can ever be, and I know he will be missed.
