Transfer tax, mortgage tax

Did you know that transfer taxes are NOT deductible on your income tax return?  That's what my accountant told me.  I'm not talking about points paid up front on a mortgage, I'm talking about money paid to your city or state with regards to the sale price.  Also mortgage tax, paid to the same city or state, not POINTS paid up front are also not deductible?  I was always under the impression that they were.  Just goes to show you what kind of an accountant I would make.   How much do you know about these things?  Any accountants reading this, please correct me if I'm wrong.
