This is one of the hidden gems located in Dripping Springs, Texas. After thousands of years of erosion, the dome of an underground river collapsed and the beautiful Hamilton Pool Preserve was formed.

There is a 45 foot waterfall, an enormous grotto, a great swimming hole, hiking trails,and much beauty to behold. What a great way to spend an outdoor afternoon with that someone special, or the entire family.

Jennifer - Fabulous pictures! My husband, Jim, tried to take the girls to see this preserve, but it was raining . . .and by the time we got there . . .they closed down. We were so disappointed. However these pictures have allowed to see the beauty my husband was telling us about. Thank you for sharing!

Meg - You really must take some time to see this! The sound and power of the waterfall is an invigorating force.

Make sure you go early, as they only have parking for 75 cars, and the rest have to wait...1 car out, 1 car in. They also don't allow pets (not even on leashes) so make sure to leave the furry family members at home. If you plan on swimming, call in the AM to verify swimming conditions. After extremely hard rains, they often close the pool to swimmers. It would be a tragedy to make the trip a second time and not be able to fully enjoy the experience!

We had a family picnic there for my youngest daughter in September. The sun was hot, the water brisk and refreshing, and the memory was priceless. We're all looking forward to some warmer weather before we head back. I'm glad I was able to bring Hamilton Pool Preserve to you in the comfort of your home.

Hi Jennifer, This is one of my favorite places in all the Hill Country. I've not been there in a long time but so glad you shared the pictures. So glad they take good care of the area and keep the environment clean. It is inconvenient to limit the amount of visitors but so necessary for preservation. Thanks for sharing!:)

The photo was taken on Mother's Day weekend in May 2007, it was a great weekend. The weather in May is terrific...not too hot.

My sons Middle School team just won District Champs, and my youngest concludes her season with a DSYSA tournament on Friday.
