A Series of Great Statements, Challenges - So Who Cares??...

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty, Inc., Broker Associate

This post took an unexpected turn that raised new questions for me as I worked to complete it.  I remembered a long, and powerful quote, I heard many years ago.  The words were attributed to Nelson Mandela, someone I highly respect.  The thoughts and provocative challenges meant so much for me, coming from him.

As I was checking phrases to ensure I presented the quote correctly, I discovered a potential issue.  A source said the words were mistakenly attributed to Mr. Mandela.  Oh my, what is happening to this potentially great post I had envisioned??  I did more checking, oh my, it appears to be true.  Were those thoughts not really his??  After some additional checking, I have come to believe the text was actually offered by authoress: Marianne Williamson.

CUT TO THE CHASE!!  I realized that good ideas and truisms should be shared, the words speak for themselves ... each of us has so many important contributions to make.  I am grateful for the images and challenges presented by Marianne Williamson:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate,

our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?  You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people

won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It is not just in some of us;  it is in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously

give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,

our presence automatically liberates others."

Thank you Marianne...                                                                                   Thank you ActiveRain...

Thanks for passing this along!

That's what I thought, Steve.  At first, I was thrown for a loop.  The author was not who I thought it was originally.  Then I realized, the author's words speak for themselves.  I am glad she said them and still wanted to share them.
