Campbell Soup and Letter Carriers Team up for Stamp Out Hunger Katy
On Saturday May 11, 2013 the Campbell Soup Company is teaming up with the Texas Letter Carriers (NALC) to do a food drive which will collect food for millions of Americans who are struggling to eat. This food drive is nationwide campaign and is part of a program titled “Stamp Out Hunger”.
This nationwide major project will provide needed food to local food banks who essentially rely mainly on donations from individuals. Unfortunately, food banks all across this great nation continue to experience ever growing records for demand of emergency food.
The nation’s 175,000 letter carriers will collect food donations left at mailboxes by generopus Americans. This is the 21 st year of the Stamp Out Hunger campaign
and Saturday’s food collections are the nations biggest single-day food drive all year. This food drive during its 21 years has collected more than one billion pounds of food! Last year Americans contributed 70 million pounds of food and this was the ninth consecutive year that at least 70 million pounds of food were collected. member food banks.
All of us have the ability to assist this very worthwhile cause. Gather various food items and put these items in bags which will be left at your mailboxes. The examples of non-perishable food items which can be left include : Vegetable oil; dry laundry detergent, canned meats and fish; shampoo; sugar. The food bank needs include quart sized freezer bags , all personal hygiene items such hand soap, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.
