Just outside of Cherry Creek North lies Alamo Placita Neighborhood or also known as Governor's Park Neighborhood. The name means little place of the cottonwoods. It has been called Denver’s most beautiful and ideal park at times. The name was given because of all the cottonwoods that grow here naturally. There are some very old ones in the neighborhood still to this day.
Alamo Placita Park and Speer Blvd are both on the National Register of Historic Places; they were also added as one of the official Denver Landmarks in 1986. There is lots of beautiful plants and trees in this older neighborhood along with both modern and older style homes.
Another great feature of Governor’s Park Neighborhood is easy access to the beautiful Cherry Creek Bike Trail, it runs alongside Speer Blvd and many people like to walk, run or bike on this trail. It also allows for easy access to other parks by foot or bike that is mostly off street too.
