5/18-27: Schnepf Farms Peach Festival
May 18th, 19th, 25th, 26th, 27th (Memorial Day)
The Peach Festival at Schnepf Farms isn’t just the chance to pick a peach and dig into a stack of peach pancakes. The annual celebration lets visitors spend the day on a working family farm.
“There’s a natural connection with the earth. We give people a chance to reconnect with the soil,” said Mark Schnepf, who runs the farm with his wife, Carrie.
Held weekends from Saturday, May 18, through Memorial Day, May 27, the festival focuses on peaches, a fruit native to China, where they’ve been cultivated for more than three millennia.
Festivalgoers can pick peaches — the farm grows Florida Prince and King, Super Lady, Springcrest, Earligrande and Earlitreat varieties — or take a hayride out to the orchards. They can eat a peach-pancake breakfast, sample peach recipes, purchase peach products from the country store and bakery, and participate in peach-pie-eating and peach-pit-spitting contests, with a case of peaches as the prize.
When: 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. May 18-19 and 25-27.
Where: 24810 S. Rittenhouse Road, Queen Creek.
Admission: Free. $3 per ride or $10 for an unlimited wristband, $6-$10 for peach-pancake breakfast.
