School of Rock Katy Holds Summer Rock Camps
If you cannot tell from my blogs I like music and rock is my favorite being more towards classic rock. I have written several other blogs about Summer activities in Katy and thought it was also appropriate for me to blog about a music camp. The School of Rock in Katy is holding both a beginners and advanced rock camp. I wrote a blog last summer about a Rock Camp at School of Rock in Katy just after the facility had opened its doors.
The School of Rock Katy is offering one week Rock Performance camps for kids aged 8 - 18. The Rock performance camp is for advanced students who have a lot of experience playing their instruments and now want to expand by playing on stage with other musicians. This camp will be challenging and might cover a specific genre of music or artist/band such as Punk.
The second camp is for beginners who have little or no experience with playing instruments but yearn to learn and want to try playing in a Rock n Roll band. The music and material in this camp will be much easier but the kids will still have an opportunity to rock out.
The sessions will include both individual and small group instructions and full band rehearsals. The last day of camp will feature a stage show performed by the students. How cool is that. Personally I was rock band wanna be when I was young but I had zero talent. Maybe I could have learned to play the drums! My wife after reading this sentence is now laughing and shaking her head meaning NO way Jose!
The School of Rock has nine weeks of Camps available. The First Camp being the more advanced Rock Performance Camp starts on June 10 and lasts till June 14. It runs from 9 AM until 3 PM. All students need to have at a minimum 6 months of playing their instrument experience and possess the ability to play and learn new songs. The final stage performance will be on Friday afternoon. The cost of the camp is $465.
The second Camp is Beginner Rock Camp and it starts on June 17 and lasts until Friday June 21, 2013. Each day will include sessions covering the theory of music plus fun projects all involving music. This camp is obviously geared for both students who are just starting out and younger musicians. Similar to the advance Rock Performance Camp the stage performance will be performed on Friday afternoon. The cost of this Camp is $465.
The other Camps are as follows:
Rock Performance Camp - History of Punk 6/24- 6/28/2013
Beginner Rock Camp II - 7/8-7/12/2013
Rock Performance Camp - Green Day 7/15-7/19/2013
Beginner Rock Camp III - 7/22-7/26/2013
Music Video Camp - 7/29-8/2/2013 . this Camp is $500.
Beginner Rock Camp IV - 8/5-8/9/2013
Performance Rock Camp - Beatles 8/12-8/16/2013
These camps also run Monday - friday with performance on Friday and start at 9 AM and last until 3 PM.
Your young promising Rock Star can take courses most of summer depending on their abilities and experience. How lucky can you get when they fill your home with equipment including drums plus their new band mates and use your garage for practice. You might want to call the neighborhood HOA if this happens to check on their rules. Look at it this way, my theory with children has always been keep them busy doing something productive and then you do not have to usually worry about major problems.
