Balboa Park, San Diego, California. May 2013 with Russel Ray. Balboa Park was the site of the 1915 to 1916 Panama–California Exposition and 1935–36 California Pacific International Exposition, both of which left architectural landmarks. In 1977 Balboa Park and its beautiful historic Exposition buildings were declared a National Historic Landmark and National Historic Landmark District.
All the buildings in Balboa Park are works of art in their own right. Their are interesting lines, pediments and decorations all over the exterior of the buildings.
This awesome tree is approximately 100 feet high and is next to the foot bridge over the freeway.
There were several hummingbirds at the park the day I went. You can see by the silhouette view that I was able to get a picture of this one when it sat down for a second.
Lovely fountain with seating to relax and unwind.
One of the lovely roses from the Rose Garden.
