Bring your lawn chairs and a picnic dinner and come join locals at the Dana Point Movies in the Park this summer. Southern California weather allows for this kind of event to be held in parks all over the region. I love to lay out a big blanket, cuddle up with the kids and watch a movie. Typically we will make sure we know the closest ice cream parlor for treats after the show.
In Dana Point one of my favorite post-movie treat locations is the Harbor House Cafe. A true diner that never closes, it's my go-to location for onion rings while the family indulges in chocolate treats or even breakfast at midnight.
Family friendly movies like The Lorax and Mary Poppins will grace the big screen under the stars in Lantern Bay Park (25111 Park Lantern, Dana Point). There is popcorn and refreshments available for purchase and all proceeds benefit a local school or other non-profit.
