InforGraph ~ Psychology of Color.

In various cultures colors often have different connotations. Here in today’s Western societies the meanings of various colors in general are:-

Black ~ is the color of authority and power.

White ~ symbolizes innocence and purity.

Red ~ is the most emotionally intense color stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing.

Blue ~ is the opposite of red creating a peaceful calm reaction.

Green ~ symbolizes nature, calming and refreshing.

Yellow ~ is an attention getter, enhances concentration.

Purple ~ color of royalty, wealth and sophistication.

Brown ~ color of earth, reliable and abundant.

The U.S. flag’s colors have meaning as well, Red represents valor and hardiness, while blue signifies justice, perseverance, and vigilance. The stars represent the heavens and all the good that people strive for, while the stripes emulate the sun's rays.

Very cool presentation of colors; having worked in advertising for years before real estate, I knew about some of the logos.

David, I can attest that the color yellow is an attention getter..I have a yellow car and just after I bought it, I was stopped for speeding, definitely got the attention of that officer!

Color definitely has impact - and it fascinates me how color trends change over time. I'm noticing lots of gray used in new construction model homes - kind of a silvery gray tone.

Hi David.  Why is our money the color of green?

Very interesting graphic.  My favorite color is black....sorry to see it associated with negative.  The green M & M candies being sexual is pretty funny!

Another interesting post regarding color. I find the psychology and science of this to be interesting how these patterns trend.
