I loved this post yesterday... as I do so many of theirs... however this one truly touched my heart and I re-blog it for those that may have missed it because I think it is such a wonderful idea for all of us to stay focued on all of the "Good People Out There"... It is so easy to focus on all the bad and and let all the good pass us by... Happy Day Everyone...

There Are Good People Out There!

Listen to the news and you'd think the entire world has gone to hell in a handbasket.  It's gotten so bad that our local newspaper has a weekly section called "Good News".  REALLY, we've gotten to the point that we need a special section that counters the other 99% of news coverage?

But if you pay attention, you'd realize that the good people are out there, and in significant numbers, way greater than the people making the headlines.

The Habitat for Humanity project with 600+ people building the walls for total strangers, all in a matter of a few hours.

The lady in front of me in the McDonald's drive-thru that paid for my breakfast last week.

And a twofer from yesterday.  Liz volunteers at the Oakley Petsmart every other Sunday afternoon for Ohio Alleycat Resource, with the goal of finding good homes for OAR's cats.  Yesterday two women brought in a little (and we mean LITTLE) orange and white kitten they'd found in traffic on Madison Rd in Oakley.  Now Madison Rd is a major, busy road for our area, and Sunday afternoons are no different.  These two stopped in traffic and caught the kitten (hissing, pffffting, and general raising as much ruckus as it could!).  They brought it to Petsmart hoping they'd find help for this kitten (they did, it's now at our house to grow up a bit, get socialized and adopted out by OAR).

And the 2nd part of it, that bracelet in the top left belongs to Liz.  While at the Petsmart it fell off (magnetic clasp) and she didn't realize it until after she left.  We went back a couple of hours later to scour the parking lot and the cat adoption area.  No luck there, but someone had found it and turned it in to the employees!

Now this is just a little sliver of what we see in a given week.  Don't let the news, the Facebook feeds and the rest twist your perception.  There are PLENTY of good people out there!  Police, firefighters, military, teachers, nurses and many, many more taking care of all of us every day.

Beth, Thanks for the reblog!  And we're already starting to see more examples of the good, and I know we'll see more.  A truckload of relief supplies is leaving a local ministry this morning to head to the Oklahoma area struck by yesterday's tornado.  Those folks need our prayers and our help.
