OCTOBER RACE MOVING???
NASCAR Mogul Bruton Smith says there is a 70% chance that the long standing traditional October race in Charlotte - Bank of America 500 race will be moved to Las Vegas.
Smith owns the Las Vegas Motor Speedway as well as 8 others throughout the country. Additionally he owns six other businesses in Las Vegas so is quite familiar with the area and the powers that be.
Smith said he has made several trips to Las Vegas recently and has had extensive talks about moving the October race and at this point it's about 70/30. He said that hotel and casino operators in Las Vegas viewthe race as a big money making opportunity.
It was also noted that Charlote Motor Speedway which is based in Concord, NC has been involved in legal fights with Cabarrus County for several years over money that he is owed.
