Gardening Without all the Weeding, Woodchip Gardening In Stevens Point Wisconsin

I am a big fan of gardening all of my vacant lots but I seldom have the time to do all of the work that is involved.

A few of my lots I have set up community garden sharecroppers who share some of their crops in exchange for free use of my land.  All that I have to do is pay the mortgage and taxes, kind of expensive veggies, but better than a crop of lawn.

A few of my lots I garden myself, but with very limited time working in the woods this time of year, I have to make my gardens as labor free as possible.  My method so far has been primarily keeping enough grass clippings and leaves on the soil between my crops to keep any weeds from seeing the sun.

Lately I have been experimenting with woodchips due to the fact that they last longer, dont blow around the neighborhood like leaves, and dont melt away quickly like grass clippings do.

I was happy when somebody sent the following link that shows another guy doing the same thing that I am only on a much larger scale.

Bob we use the wood chips a lot here in Ct to keep the weeds out of the gardens, a great way to recycle branches and other debris. Enjoy your garden this summer.

That sure does make a lot of sense. I have one property that consists of 5 acres of open land. There are about 20 sets of folks that have their annual garden each year. I donate it to a church where some of the members use it.

Bob, what a great idea! I'm sure the people that use your land appreciate it and are happy to share their crops.
