The true definition of Sometimers is "sporadic memory loss and brain flatulence". The Real Estate business is so detailed and crossing every T and dotting every i is critical for each and every deal. I do a pretty darned good job of keeping everything straight for my business. I wonder if it's possible to think too much about the business? Like maybe the brain gets too full? Or maybe multi-tasking capabilities are lost once we hit a certain age?
If you see yourself in any of these symptoms you may be showing signs of Sometimers.
Various symptoms of Sometimers.
You pick up the phone to call a client. As the phone rings you go to another thought. The client answers. You then begin to grapple with the question: "who did I just call?" Sometimes it comes to you and sometimes it doesn't!
If you wear glasses for reading you are very susceptible to Sometimers. Multiple symptoms can be found concerning reading glasses. You begin to look for them to read something. You had them a minute ago but now they're gone. You walk the house or the office looking for them. Where could you have put them? You look some more. You check your pockets, purse, desk, and every corner. Finally you take a bathroom break and as you are washing your hands you see them on your head. Sometimes. Other times you find them on your collar. Occasionally, you will find them where you thought you left them but you didn't see them because you didn't have your glasses.
You pick up your purse or wallet, files, something to drink and head to the car to meet with your customers. You get out to the car but....no keys. You fumble through your pockets, purse, files yet you find nothing. You run back into the office to look for them screaming, "help, I've lost my keys" to all that will listen. As you are putting down your armful of stuff you find your keys!! There they are! Hanging off your finger in the hand that is holding the drink! Sometimes you embarrass even yourself.
Stress can exacerbate your symptoms. Often caused by House Showings. One of your main symptoms is recognizable by losing "the" key. You know, the one that belongs to the owners of the house you're showing? "Yikes!" You had it in your hand but now it's gone. It could be anywhere. Sometimes you find it. Sometimes you don't. Try checking the door.
You find that remembering names isn't as easy as it use to be. You just shook her hand and you begin to tell her something and "poof" it's gone. Sometimes you just have to ask again.
You wrote down the potential sellers name on one of your own business cards. They want you to contact them for an appointment. You place the card in a "special place" so you won't forget where it is. Sometimes you forget the "special place".
You write out the check but forget to sign it!! Sometimes you actually forget!
At the end of a very hard day you stop at a grocery store to go in and get that item you were suppose to remember. And, if you could think of what it was it would be easier. Sometimes you do remember it but after you check out you just can't find the car.
I know there are others but I can't remember them right now...
