One of the things that will separate you from anyone in any given field is by becoming memorable. I recently was referred to someone who had two colleagues who used my services for real estate sales in selling their condos in the past. The two gentleman mentioned me to their friend at work who was already interviewing several real estate agents for the job of selling the home.
I really appreciate getting referrals from clients. It's one of the best ways to create a steady stream of business over and over again. I try to reward people who refer clients to me in a non monetary fun kind of way. I look for ways to be unique and memorable. This is a very inxpensive thank you gift.
The one way that is least expensive and proves over and over to be the best way to say thank you for the referral is to send an item of value. The item of value that I send has no monetary value whatsover to the client. It has incredible perceieved value to the recipient because it is highly personalized for them.
So here is what I will do...first, I generally will have access to the folks via Facebook so what I do is scan their posted photos on Facebook and find one that really strikes me or is very photogenic. I then download the photo to my computer. I then open up my sendoutcards account and upload that photo and then I make a custom greeting card online for that client. The sendoutcard system prints, stuffs and sends that card to the client in about 4 days to anywhere in the US and Canada for less than $1.50. It truly is amazing. I have made a 1 mimute long video of how I make an item of value that is highly personalized for the client and allows me to continue to develop a real estate practice that is largely run on a by referral only basis.
This is truly online marketing with an offline component at it's finest. You don't have to be a social media marketing guru to get that this idea really kicks ass/
