Doodle 4 Google Contest Winner-"Coming Home" drawn by Wisconsin Teen
If anyone was on Google search page today, they would have seen Sabrina Brady's winning entry. It was a depiction of the event showing her dad coming home as Sabrina was running to greet him. Her dad been deployed in Iraq for 18 months. Sabrina used to Letters G-O-O-G-L-E to describe her drawing. She drew herself and her father in black and white with only colored flags until the time they unite and then the drawing is depicted in full color. The letter 'O' stands for the sun and the dad is the 'L". Sabrina is a very creative artist and this is truly deserving as the winning entry.
The theme of Google's contest was "My Best Day Ever" and had 130,000 entries from all 50 states. High School Senior Sabrina Brady from Sparta, Wisconsin was the winner and there were 4 finalists based on age. 1st Grade winner Reagan Gonsalves from Arizona, 4th Grade winner Audrey Zhang from New York state, 7th Grade winner Maria Iannnoe from New Jersey and 8th Grade winner Joseph Han from Maine. All 4 finalists received a $5,000 College Scholarship.
Over 130,000 entries received plus millions of votes were cast. 1 winner for each state was selected and the 50 state's winner's drawings will be displayed at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City until July 14, 2013.
Sabrina, a high school senior will receive a $30,000 scholarship, a Chromebook Computer, and a $50,000 technology grant. Sabrina is starting college in the fall at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design.
What a great tribute to her dad and also the perfect timing to be annouced by Google since this weekend is Memorial Day.
