Ahhh... Spring is in the Air

I awoke this morning, a chilly morning at that, and opened my morning paper and went right to the sports page. Yes, I admit, I go to the sports page first - especially on Sunday. What a welcome surprise -  the headline read

"SPRING FEVER"

The Yankees and Mets pitchers and catchers report to Florida on Thursday.

What a welcome relief from the doldrums of winter.

Spring training is like a re-birth for Baseball fans throughout the country. It's a time of hopes and dreams where everyone's team has a chance of making it to the "Show" in October - well maybe not the D'Rays (I'm kidding!)

I'm anxious to see what the season brings with the locals making some significant changes in the off season. The Mets with their recent acquisition of Johan Santana and the Yanks with the re-signing of A-Rod and their new manager - Joe Girardi. I'm sure the fans of all the teams around this great country of ours are just as eagerly awaiting the starts of their seasons too.

I must say - I'm envious of all you folks in the warmer areas, especially Florida and Arizona, who get a jump on the rest of us with live Baseball being played in the Spring.

I can hear the crack of the bat now..............Play Ball!!!

Nicholas - You do, and with another cold front moving in here with 50 - 60mph winds tonight and temps dipping into the single digits - below zero with wind chill - and me in my drafty old house - you especially have a treat!

Danny - Yes, Yes, Yes, and YES!

smileys Here's the crack of the bat for you. I can't wait and yes, we in Florida are lucky to be able to take in the spring training games.

As for the D'Rays...if they don't get their act together fast, they won't be here much longer! IF they would somehow find a way to putting a winning product on the field, they might actually get more fans in the seats OTHER than the Red Sox and Yankees games.

Being a die-hard Red Sox fan...I can't wait for this season to officially start!

Almost 80 degrees today!  Sunny, no wind...pitchers & catchers soon to report...I love Arizona!

(must admit, though...swimming in the gulf before going out to the ballpark, when I lived in Naples, FL was a nice bonus--Red Sox fans, anyone?)

I can't wait for the baseball to start up to.  I can already smell the popcorn, peanuts and hear the take me out to the ball game song.
