Planning To Sell Your Rhinebeck Home This Spring - Could Pruning Add to Your Homes Curb Appeal?

In the Northeast winter can be severe and take a big toll on the landscape. If selling your home this spring is one of your goals it might be a good time to pay some attention to the plants on your property. We all know how important curb appeal is; I have taken buyers to a listing and just based on the outside they decided to forego the showing.

One Item that should be addressed at this time is the trees, if we did not address them during the fall season. Many shrubs and trees need to be pruned for various reasons.

Broken Branches
Height control
Disease
Reshaping

Just to name a few.

The thing to remember is that to be effective there is a timetable that has to be followed. Pruning of most trees needs to be addressed during the dormant period.

Your right about making the outside look good. I've had clients not want to go inside a house because the outside doesn't look maintained.

Jennifer the way a house looks on the outside is very important. Most Sellers seem to worry about chipping paint and keeping the grass cut, but keeping the trees well pruned trees also play a big role on how the rest will look.

Excellent post for those planning to put their home on the spring time. Its so easy to neglect the outside of the house even though its the first thing buyers see when they arrive at the home.

Pruning is something Sellers often overlook and it is something that can make a big difference in the appearance.

Cynthia - I couldn't agree more.

Wendy - This happens when the client insist on seeing that specific property but on arrival is turned off by lack of curb appeal.

George the outside appearance is as important.

Kimberly - Good to hear from you. Yes the appearance of the front yard is the first thing a buyers sees and if that's a turnoff the tour usually goes down hill.

Great advice. Pruning is a project that cost next to nothing, and one can't over emphasize the importance of curb appeal.

We do not get a dormant period here in Hawaii, so we can prune year round. It is a great tip that many overlook.

Jennifer - Great info! I'm looking forward to the warmer weather and all that it brings.

The property's landscape is the initial scene a buyer sees before entering the home. An attractive landscape does add much more appeal to one's property.

Rosari - You are right, pruning is something the homeowner can do and there is so much information as to how to do this correctly.

Randy- In your case thats true, the trees and shrubs are accustom to pruning year round.
