I "container" garden on my deck in the summer. I grow fresh lettuce, herbs, tomatoes and this summer and trying to grow some cucumbers too. My parents garden and I get some fresh veggies from them too, but their gardens are much smaller these days than in years past when they were younger. But if you don't have the space or time to garden this is still a solution for you to get fresh veggies.

These aren't "shipped" in vegetables and products like you find at the supermarket or even at some road side stands. They are from local farmers. They are grown locally, have great flavor and support our local economy when you shop there. Tomorrow I plan to check out the Greenway Farmers Market. I'm so excited because my tomatoes aren't ripe yet and I really don't have many green ones yet and my cucumbers are just about an inch and half long. So I can't wait to go over and check out the selection this year.
We also shop for local honey there each year. My Donald loves honey and we're very happy that a local bee keeper sells honey at the farmers market and we stock up each year. Warm honey biscuits are really awesome. We love we can buy artisan hearth baked breads, hormone free dairy products, fresh eggs, pasture raised beef and lamb. We have a large freezer and a food saver for freezing where it will last us all winter long when the local farmer's markets close down for the winter months.
So while I wait on my tiny vegetables to grow and for all those things I don't grow.... I'll be checking out the farmers markets around town. See what they offer here and go and visit for yourself. Maybe I'll see you there.
