Parade schedule this weekend for Memorial Day 2013
Let’s not forget our 21.8 million veterans currently in the U.S. and more than 1.3 million served during multiple wars.
Memorial day is always associated with the beginning of summer. Have a safe and memorable holiday!
Saturday May 25th 2013
Newburgh — Flags will be distributed in front of the Activity Center in the City of Newburgh by the Joint Memorial Day Parade Committee at 401 Washington St., Newburgh from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 25, for decorating the graves of veterans only.
Plattekill — Parade, 1 p.m. May 25, from Town Hall to Thomas Felten Memorial Park in Plattekill.
Sunday May 26th 2013
Marlboro – Memorial Day parade from Marlboro High School, 1 p.m. May 26. Sponsored by the American Viebey – Sutton Post 124. Call 590-7027
Monroe – Parade sponsored by Monroe Veterans Coalition will step off at 1:30 p.m. from Smith Clove Park, through the village & end at Veterans Memorial Park on Route 17M, A wreath laying ceremony culminates this event at Monroe Cemetery along with guest speakers.
Montgomery – America’s Patriotic Day of Remembrance is held at the Town Government Center 110 Bracken Road, 2 p.m
Newburgh – Wreath laying ceremonies at 17 Newburgh cemeteries & monuments will begin at 8:30 am on Sunday. A motorcade and color guard will depart from the former American Legion Hall, 62 Grand Street.
Town of Woodbury is holding their annual Memorial Day Parade at 12:30 on Route 32, Sunday, May 26. The parade is on route 32 and heads north to the Cemetery of The Highlands ending with a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Veteran’s Monument and Firemen’s Monument.
Town of Newburgh – Memorial Day Parade is Sunday at 1pm. The parade begins at the American Legion Hall Union Avenue to Route 300 – Route 52 – Powder Mill Road ending at Cronomer Park.
Monday May 27th 2013
Montgomery – Parade begins 11 am at The Orange County Fireman’s Museum, 141 Clinton Street and ending at the Veteran’s Memorial Park where there will be a ceremony followed by a picnic. More detailed info is available at 917-359-4395.
Newburgh – The City of Newburgh Memorial Day Parade begins 10 a.m. The parade proceeds down Broadway, to Liberty Street and continuing to Washington’s Headquarters. The Annual Memorial Day Services will begin at Washington’s Headquarters at 11:45 am. The public is invited. This year David McTamaney is the Grand Marshal. Memorial Day Observances conclude with a reading of the names of all deceased veterans since World War I. This is held at the Orange County Veterans Memorial 3pm at the intersection of Liberty Street and Leroy Place. Upon request a family member is encouraged to read the name of their loved ones at the ceremony.
