FPEA- Florida Homeschool Convention 2013- Orlando Rocks!

Each year we see more and more parents choosing to homeschool their children. This year we noticed a lot of young parents with younger children at the homeschool convention. Florida Homeschool convention FPEA

Parents from around the state of Florida come to a wonderful refreshing environment where they can get re-assured they are doing the right thing by taking charge of their children's education.

There is more than enough to choose from as far as curriculum goes. There are over 1200 exhibitors in the exhibition hall. Sometimes for new homeschooling families, this can be a little bit overwhelming.

My tip for new homeschooling parents is to choose curriculum based on how your children learn whether they are hands on, very visual or perhaps they are more auditory learners. Don't over spend on your curriculum because you may find out after spending money that your child or children hate the curriculum. There is so much that is now for free on the internet.

Check out this amazing booth with puzzles. We stayed at this booth trying the different puzzles. One lady created ALL of these!!! She is so smart too! It was fun watching her be so passionate about the hundreds of puzzle formations and solutions to goals. It was so fun!

Many parents who choose to homeschool do so because they believe they are called to do so. If this is the case with you, pray about what is the best curriculum for your family. You will get the answers from your Heavenly Father.

Homeschool is now mainstream. We are very blessed to live in Florida. Florida is one of the most lenient states for homeschool reporting and evaluating.

Katerina, I used to look forward to our homeschool convention every year. The speakers were awesome and I loved to peruse the curriculum. Now that both kids are in college, I miss those days. This looks like it was awesome. Have fun with another year of teaching and new exploration.

I am thinking that if I had to do it over again, I would seriously have looked more at home schooling. The internet has added so much to the process that it is truly a great way to educate our kids.

Tammie- Thanks! I am having a blast! I also love that Tristan loves to come with me to this event every single year:)

Janis- The Internet makes homeschool so easy! When I started homeschooling over 30 years ago, there was no email, no computers, no cell phones, no internet. In fact, there were no printers in homes. I had to ask a teacher friend to mimeograph worksheets for my kids back then!!! We spent a lot of time at libraries.
