Looking for thoughts on giving back to the community

At Delgado Property Management, we’ve been thinking lately of ways to give back to the community. In the past, we’ve helped those in need, though I haven’t blogged about it since the purpose of our gesture wasn’t to gain publicity.  We want to help Benicia in particular since it is our home and the place of our property management business.  I’m thinking along the lines of sponsoring a local sports team or perhaps looking into setting up a scholarship at the local high school.

Benicia Property ManagementThe sports team idea actually isn’t my own since a friend has approached us requesting that we do so, but I like the idea.  The scholarship idea comes from my own memories of needing to scratch together any funding that I could in order to pay for college.

I am sure that there are other ideas out there and I will start poking around town to find what there is.  But, I also wanted to solicit the Active Rain community and ask your experiences, good and bad.  What have you done and how did it go?

I sat on the board of a local housing non-profit and provided my property management and real estate expertise on rehabbing a multi-unit property they just bought and assembled 3 parcels that received tax-credit funding and now is home to 70+ low income families....our EXPERTISE is valuable to our communities

Wallace,

That's great thinking.  I hadn't explored that side of how to give back to the community.  You've given me food for thought.  Thank you.
