Memorial Day 2013- 2 Words-Simple & Sincere-THANK YOU to Those Who Served and Sacrificed for us.
We shouldn’t have to wait until Memorial Day-one day out of 365 to pay tribute and recognize those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. When I think about military service and the young men and women who serve, I wonder if I would have had the courage necessary to face our enemy.
Being a member of the armed services isn’t just about wearing uniforms or saluting; or marching in parades and boot camp. It means that you are willing to put your life on the line to defend and protect the United States and its citizens.
I’d like to think I would but that’s a heck of a lot easier to say when you’re past the age of being drafted or called to service and sitting in the comfort of my home with a laptop typing this.
Several years ago when we lived in Leesburg, VA we had the honor and privilege of attending the Memorial Day services at Arlington Cemetery. We heard President George Bush address those in attendance and while being there on this special day was exciting, the fact that we were sitting behind a Medal of Honor recipient was the highlight of our afternoon.
Don’t forget at 3PM on Memorial Day, the National Moment of Remembrance when we are to give a Moment of Silence “for those who have died to make our country free.
Thank You to all who served our country
and gave their lives for it.
Please, let’s not wait until the final Monday
in the month of May to
honor these fellow Americans.
And tomorrow, and the day after all your
tomorrows, please remember to thank those
who honor US with their service to our country.
