An Easy Way to Entertain at Your Next Open House

Most of us agents are running around quite a bit these days. We want to put on a festive open house to promote a new listing and we need a few tricks to make it a bit easier. Here's a favorite of mine.....

         Beverages at an Open House

Fill a clean sink with two bags of ice. Add a variety of beverages of your choice. I'm fond of offering sparkling Italian lemonade and fancy still water. Use a third bag of ice to fill in the gaps. When you are finished, put any leftover drinks in the fridge with a note that says "please enjoy a cold beverage!" . When it's a zillion degrees outside, this courtesy will go a long way.

Skip the flowers, they may wilt and you'll have to go back to the property right away to make sure they are fresh. Instead try a nice stack of fresh apples.

Want the home to smell great? You'll see I've got two little votive candles buring on the sink edges. If the wax spills, it won't get on the counter.

An easy way to entertain at your next open house. What are your favorite tricks?

Rachel, excellent idea! I love the sink filled with drinks idea. I do balloons sometimes, or a bowl of various candies. But the drinks in the sink is great, instead of using the ice chest. I'm going to try your idea in fact, this weekend at my 2 open houses. Thanks, Rachel!

What a great idea I usually have the drinks in the refrigerator anything to make the viewers feel welcome.

A great idea to put the drinks in the refrigerator, Rachel - especially if you're showing a home that may be currently unoccupied. No need to worry about dragging in a cooler to keep drinks cold and all the ice drains right down the sink. Nothing to clean up afterward! Great tips!
