Obama-Xi Meeting at Sunnylands, Private Estate in Rancho Mirage

June 7th-8th, President Obama and President Xi Jinping will meet at Sunnylands, the private Rancho Mirage estate of the late publishing tycoon, and U.S. Ambassador ,Walter Annenberg and his wife Leonore. The Mission Statement of the Annenberg Retreat at Sunnylands reads, "To address important issues facing the nation and the world and to serve as a sanctuary for generations of high-level national and world leaders seeking the privacy, the peace, and “the pause” needed for solving the most pressing issues of the day."

Constructed in the mid-1960s as the winter home of the Annenbergs, Sunnylands has hosted seven U.S. presidents, British royalty and other world leaders. Sunnylands is a 200-acre estate and historic residence that provides a place of tranquility and hospitality where national and international leaders from a range of fields–beginning with the President of the United States–may convene to promote world peace and facilitate international agreement.

“This will be President Obama’s first meeting with Xi Jinping since he became China’s President. President Obama and President Xi will hold in depth discussions on a wide range of bilateral, regional and global issues. They will review progress and challenges in U.S.-China relations over the past four years and discuss ways to enhance cooperation, while constructively managing our differences, in the years ahead,” according to the White House Press Secretary.
