Grab a picnic basket and head to The Fields Sculpture Park-Ghent NY
This summer I am sure you are planning some outdoor activities; one facility you might consider visiting is The Fields Sculpture Park in Ghent NY. Yes, grab your picnic basket and get ready to explore this 100 acre property. You will find Modern contemporary sculpture around every corner. Each year new pieces are added so there is always something new to see.
The Charles B. Benson Visitor's Center at The Fields Sculpture Park in Ghent New York is the first structure you will see when you arrive at the site. In the visitors center you can pick up brochures, get a bicycle or a golf cart if you are disable. Otherwise be prepare to do some serious walking. Because of the eye candy available you won't realize how much you walked.
This Park is operated by OMI International Arts Center. Access to this facility is free and both local and international visitors make the trip to see the exhibitions.
Rules at The Fields Sculpture Park-Ghent NY
- Park only in the parking lot
- Do not touch or climb on sculpture
- Children should be accompanied
- Although pets are welcome, you must cleanup after them
- Although you can have a picnic you must remove any garbage
- Return or recycle brocure map.
How to take the tour
You could just walk around and view the sculptures.
A guided tour is available by appointment
You could also take a cell phone tour.
When I visited I had a wonderful time going down different paths. I did not take a guided tour , it was more of an adventure for me. That day the weather was good so it was fun walking around the rolling fields, wetland , woods and knolls.
The Fields Sculpture Park 2013 season will begin on June 15th, I am excited to see the new installations.
