There is No Perfect House
This is so true! Buying a home is a series of compromises. There is no perfect home, partner or even dog or vehicle. But once it is yours you would rarely trade them. To set up that expectation is to set up failure. To explain upfront that there is no perfect home is to set up success!
There is No Perfect House. I hear agent profess to be able to find the buyers the perfect house. Hogwash! IMHO there is no perfect house.
There are houses that have many features that will appeal to the buyer. There are houses that will suit the lifestyle of the buyer. There are house in the buyer's "right" neighborhood. But there are no perfect houses because even after the buyer moves in. they will wish it had something a little different. Buyer's need to accept compromise as part of the buying and selection process.I speak from past experience. My husband built our dream house. It was not perfect and we had tons of input and even had hands-on control of materials used and subcontractors. We knew it backwards and forwards and it was not perfect.
It so happened we had to sell and relocate and we had the chance to build it again, this time it would be perfect. Not! We did make some of the changes that bugged us in the first house. It came closer to the mark but it still wasn't perfect. We still had to compromise for a great house but not a perfect house. There is No Perfect House. Why are houses not perfect? Because they are made with men's hands and Mother Nature's products. These two components have tendencies to mess up from time to time. The other reason it won't be perfect is that we are constantly changing. So if it meets the needs today we are likely to think about some other little bell and whistle we wished it had or wished we had left something out that we really didn't need. Our families change and sometimes that can happen overnight, so the perfect or not so perfect house isn't the right size anymore.
So when you tell your buyers that you will help them find the Perfect House, you are setting expectations that can't be met. It may be a great house, one that they love, one that meets their today's needs, one that fits the budget and one they can be proud to live it but it will not be perfect. Something will go wrong sometime and usually sooner than later. Set up the buyers expectations to compromise and get as many of their desired features as they can. They will find a house a whole lot quicker.
There is No Perfect House. There are great, wonderful, fantastic houses for the buyer that they can be pleased with and happy to purchase. Be open-minded to compromise.
