Staycation Tuesday - The Green Valley Book Fair

Hello, and Happy Tuesday. It's Aimee again, and I'm blogging on behalf of Kline May Realty and our family of agents. As promised, it's a Tuesday, so I come to you with another Shenandoah Valley staycation idea.

2 miles off of exit 240 on I-81 is a Shenandoah Valley goldmine for local bibliophiles. It's the Green Valley Book Fair, and it features over 500,000 books that are as much as 90% off of the retail value. Value is important and with that many books at such a low cost, how can you resist?

Chris Rooker, an agent with the Harrisonburg Homes Team says, "I am addicted to the Green Valley Book Fair. I would guess that nearly half my collection is from the Fair. The deals are so good, upon entering for the first time, the first time visitor's perspective quickly shifts from 'How much can I afford?' to 'How much can I carry?'"

Debbie Knupp loves the value of the books, too! "You never know what's going to be there," she said to me, "I have every book I ever bought for my children, and many of them came from the Green Valley Book Fair."

The farm that houses the 25,000 square foot climate-controlled bookstore is a cultural icon in this area, and it's very easy to get to. When you reach the stoplight at the top of exit 240, turn east on Frieden's Church Road. Travel approximately 1.5 miles and then turn left onto Rd 681 at the Green Valley Book fair sign.

The Green Valley Book Fair opens for two-week stretches at a time, but the store are constant.

Click here to see the schedule for the rest of the year.

The hours for the store are: Monday-Thursday 10:00AM to 5:00PM
Friday-Saturday 10:00AM to 6:00PM
Sunday noon to 5:00PM

June 29th is the next time the Green Valley Book Fair will be open, so you have exactly 25 days to start saving money to spend at this discount book outlet that features a wide (and I mean VERY wide) variety of titles.

Click here to see a preview of what will be at the next book store.

According to the Green Valley Book Fair website, they have: "More than 60 different categories - including fiction, history, health and self-help, children's books, religion, science, sports, cooking, home and garden, crafts, art, reference, nature and outdoors, and more."

And remember, these books are as much as 90% off retail value. Talk about a steal!

So, if the smell of old books or new books or bookstores, makes you giddy with excitement, head on down to the Green Valley Book Fair.

It's another rainy day staycation idea, or even a "it's too hot to do anything that doesn't involve air-conditioning" idea.

Profit from my two decades of experience

Aimee-who doesn't enjoy getting a good book(s) for a large discount. This sounds like a great book fair!

I have to agree, Adrian! There's nothing like a great book at a great price.
