Hurricane Season Preparedness Checklist
Hurricane season is here, what have you done so far to prepare for hurricane season?
I absolutely love where I live and its proximity to the bay but with that being said I do realize there comes a price with my location. My home isn’t in as much danger as those who are living in the Galveston area and other Bay Area’s but taking precautions is an absolute must. No matter how close you are to the coast, if your area is prone to hurricanes you MUST be prepared.
Beware cities 30 miles away from the coast can feel the impact of a hurricane. An example of how a hurricane can affect cities miles from the coast was hurricane Ike hitting the Lone Star State at a category 2 hurricane. In Houston city limits windows were broken, fires broke out, trees and tree limbs mangled in power lines, traffic lights were down and streets were impassable. There were a total of 8 deaths in the Houston area due to the effects of Hurricane Ike.
Whether living near a coast or miles away, you should always prepare yourself for the worst. Below is a checklist of supplies to help prepare you and your family in the event of a hurricane and the aftermath.
