In 1944 along with our Allies, big and small, right and left, good or at least not as bad as the enemy, we lunched the biggest invasion in history. For the second time in just over two decades we set out to save Europe. Could we, do it again?
Could we, gather the support of our masses?
Could we, follow our leaders for a cause which is just?
Could we, would we sacrifice our all to save our souls?
Could we, do it again?
We have not won a war since Japan fell at the end of WW II.
We have deposed of several evil regimes, but displaced only the people never the evil.
We’ve forgotten, once the first man dies peace can only be imposed by a victor, not negotiate.
We’ve forgotten, all that our fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers risk and even gave their lives for.
We’ve forgotten, all we stood for, all that made us good.
We can’t forget, our self-respect, our own rights and except to be perceived as righteous.
Today is a time to remember those that gave so much.
Today is a time to remember what they believed.
Today is a time to return to logic, to replace hate with love, a love of people, a love of society, a love of diversity, a love of those freedoms that made us great!
Love tempered by logic, meaning before you pet a snake you look to see if it’s a viper!
Logic tempered, by love, meaning we can discuss anything without resorting to name calling.
Never again should we ask an American to fight a war we don’t intend to win.
