The Single Easiest Way To Get Tenants

There are a lot of factors that tenants consider when renting a home, including amenities, location, bed sizes, property layout, and other intangible qualities, such as the feeling they get when they enter the home. As a homeowner, it's impossible to win over every family every time they're looking for a summer rental.

We do hear from tenants, over and over again, that there is one factor that helps them choose the home they want to rent, and it's something that every single homeowner has control over.

Cleanliness. It's really that simple.

Taking the time to make sure the home is clean, both during the off-season when tenants are looking for rentals and during the rental season, is the most effective way to get AND keep your tenants.

In a future blog we'll talk about tips to clean your home when you're in the market for summer tenants.

Until then, check out the amazing cleaning tips on cleaning.lifetips.com.

Here's one of my personal favorite tips I learned from the website, I use this one all the time whenever I have company visiting or after cooking a particularly stinky meal:

"Household Odor Removal: Kitchen cleaning also means having to remove cooking or generally unpleasant odors in your home, you could try : 1) Simmering a potful of stick cinnamon, orange peel, whole cloves and water on your stove. 2) Place small bowls of vinegar around the room, as it absorbs any lingering odors. 3) Sprinkle some cinnamon on a cookie sheet and warm it in the oven."

I prefer to sprinkle vanilla on a piece of foil then place it on a cookie sheet, guests always comment on how lovely it smells, and it has the added bonus that they think I've been in the kitchen baking for them all day!
