It's Raining Here in Balsam, NC and the Sun Couldn't Be Happier

From the weather forecasts we expected to be inundated with rain for three days straight here in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Of course, that's one of the groovier aspects of mountains. Sometimes the weather is a big surprise and doesn't look anything like what the meteorologist suggested it might look like. Here in Balsam we might have fog and eight miles away in Waynesville, downpour. No matter. We got some rain yesterday and its raining now. That works out well. The pollen gets washed off the cars and other surfaces and our little sun hanger looks happy no matter what the weather is!

We are enjoying a gray and rainy day here in New York. Hopefully this weekend the sun will be back out. It does keep everything green. At least today the cicadas are quiet. I guess they are taking a break from their mating efforts while the rain is falling.

I'm a lot like that little sun hanger............it doesn't matter what the whether is doing, I'm usually "pretty okay".

Mona - I like your pictures of the North Carolina landscape, just beyond those ornate windchimes.  Wonderful stuff!  CONGRATULATIONS on having this blog FEATURED in the Photos group!

Hi Mona, You could package up some of the west stuff and send it our way. Our summer is going to be a scorcher this year. I could reciprocate and send you some sun if you would like,

We got a good downpour over the last couple of days, but this afternoon was lovely! It is good to see the pollen washed away. Like your photos!

Janis, we get the cicadas too and occasionally its good for a brief respite from their song.

Roger, you and me both.  My mom isn't crazy about long periods of grey and rainy...neither is Leslie.  I'm okay for up to 3 days, then I want a break.

Barbara, the pollen does need to get washed down sometimes. Enjoy the party.

Will, the cars do look better now.

Myrl, Thanks! that was unexpected.

William, California doesn't have the concept of dealing with this much rain. We'd have to send you only 5% of it so you wouldn't have to deal with mud slides and flooding!  I do wish it was that easy to share.

Gay, how did it feel to have it seem like England?

Clark, it is so good to see your face again.
