The committee to enhance Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), along with Tactical Network Solutions is hosting the First Annual Howard County STEM Festival on June 9th from 1-4 pm at Howard Community College in Columbia MD. The event is modeled after the US Science and Engineering Festival. Also, this is the only Maryland event affiliated with the US Science and Engineering Festival.
The expected attendance is 500-1,000 attendees. The Festival is geared toward Middle School Students, but is open to everyone. There is no charge to attend the Festival. The purpose of the Festival is to get students and their parents excited about STEM and careers in STEM. There will be many STEM demonstrations and hands on activities. There will also be panel discussions about careers in STEM. Some of the organizations that will be represented at the Festival include NCIS, NSA, US Patent and Trade Office, Howard Community College, Frederick Keys Baseball Team, US First Robotics and Sport Talk 980.
The first 500 students attending will receive a free drawstring bag.
