Do Business On Purpose
Thank you Kathy Sheehan for not only making a great advise statement - DO BUSINESS ON PURPOSE! but also creating a list of questions to help get our business plans in order.
Do Business On Purpose. I was on a conference call last week and that phrase was used throughout the presentation. It made an impression on me and even more so when I read that same recurring idea in several business books that I am reading. I tend to read more than one book at a time.
So, what exactly does this catchphrase mean. Determine if the daily activity is either making you money, are you investing for future earnings or are you wasting time and money? Each task should fall into one of these three categories. It is okay to spend time buidling those relationships for future business. It isn't okay to keep wasting money on tasks that don't result in a profit.
Here is what I've decided. It is time to review our business plans. We are a short three weeks from June 30. That means the year is half over. Now, I don't know about you but there are a few items that need to be tweaked on my 2013 business plan if I want to achieve my goals for this year.
Rather than go into the specifics of my business plan here are some questions that may help you get your business back on track for the second half of the year:
- Do you need to review or update your database?
- Are your marketing efforts returning the results you need?
- Are your expenses falling within the budget? Have you over spent or under spent?
- Are your sales on target?
- Are you maximizing your time?
- Do you need to delegate time-consuming tasks?
- Are your referral parnters living up to the expectations?
- How many contacts do you need to make daily in order to reach your year end goal?
Whatever the state of your business, be sure to take time to review the current status and make the changes necessary to achieve your goal. And remember, DO BUSINESS ON PURPOSE!
