RANCHO SAN DIEGO
Make the rounds in RSD
What makes Rancho San Diego a great shopping destination is that everything is within a block or so, meaning you could easily park at one spot and shop it out there, then move across the street and hit those stores.
Take the Rancho San Diego Towne Center, for example. This is the first shopping plaza you encounter as you enter RSD from eastbound Highway 94. In addition to the multiplex Edwards Cinemas and the ever-popular Hooley’s Irish Pub , you can open your wallet at Target , Party City and Staples . Smaller venues Elam’s Hallmark , Eye Styles , Payless ShoeSource , Game Stop and Empire Beauty Supply are also there. And out front closer to the road are the AAA Auto Club , Kahoots Pet Store and a line-up of favorite fast food restaurants.
Across the street, Plaza Rancho Shopping Center offers the 4,500-square-foot Cozy Quilt Shop with more than 3,000 fabric bolts. Cozy schedules classes on that technique as well as traditional sewing and stitching. This shopping center is also home to House of Cigars and a slew of eateries and auto service centers.
The other large shopping site in RSD is Rancho San Diego Town and Country. Anchored by Kohl’s , Michaels and Petco , this sprawling plaza also has a GNC , RiteAid , Sally Beauty Supply , Ross and Goodwill . Designer gown showroom Hermz is a surprise find in this sleepy suburb, although it is perfectly complemented by Ghanim Jewelry down the way. Meanwhile,
Melrose Boutique and CA Clothing offer something for every budget, including denim, shoes and accessories.
